Vagalume Update Brings Last.FM To The N900

Vagalume project has just announced the latest update, complete with full support for the Nokia N900 and Maemo 5! They?ve updated support to include the new Last.FM API, and have also added Libre.FM support, which should make plenty of folks very happy.

There is also a fancy new icon, so it?ll look pretty on your N900?s menu and homescreen, which is appreciated. Vagalume v0.8 should be available through the Extras catalog on your Nokia N900.

Vagalume is free software released under the GNU GPL. It has been developed and tested mainly on a desktop PC running Debian GNU/Linux and on the Nokia N800/N810/N900 but it has been confirmed to work in the Nokia 770 as well. Vagalume also works in Moblin-based devices and there is experimental support for MS Windows.

Its main features are:

?It plays Last.fm radio streams (using the v2.0 API)
?It supports Libre.fm and other compatible servers
?Support for different radio stations (personal, neighbours, loved tracks, ..., or any lastfm:// URL)
?It supports marking tracks as loved or banned
?It can tag artists, tracks and albums
?It can send recommendations to other users
?It can add tracks to your playlist
?It can download free tracks to your hard disk
?It scrobbles tracks so they appear in your Last.fm webpage (this can be disabled at runtime).
?It sends Now Playing information following the Audioscrobbler Realtime Submission Protocol
