    Default help with dual booting

    i installed ubuntu 10.10 on my pc with window 7 in different drive.now whenever i start my pc it boots up window.
    can nyone tell me how to get the boot menu and switch b/w the both ??

    It depends on which OS you installed lastly. If it is win 7, then win 7 might have replaced the GRUB bootloader with the its own bootloader which won't detect linux.

    In this case, you might need to install only GRUB alone to get the boot menu. Open the second link in the google search link

    When you install ubuntu you should choose install inside win7
    And it will appear boot as a option or as old win XP install with win7[COLOR="Silver"]

    @jakelong00: From what i can see you have installed win 7 first then installed ubuntu. In that case, the GRUB should have installed correctly. There is still one more option you can try, While booting up the machine try press up/down arrows continuously if in case you GRUB timeout is too less then you might end up in GRUB screen where you can select the OS

    i solved it....i installed the grub in wrong directory because of which it was not working properly.
    now i reinstalled it n voila,everything is fine
    thnx for help
