I am a new member in this forum and here i want to share some thing on the features of Android.
Android is a Linux based operating system for mobile devices such as smart phones or tablet computers.
The feature of the android are:
1.Handset layout:VGA, 2D graphics and 3D graphics based on OpenGLES2.0
2.Storage:SQLITE,a lightweight relational database.
3.Connectivity:Supports GSM/EDGE, CDMA, EV-DO, UMTS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE, NFC, WiMAX.
4.Multiple Language support
5.Media Support:It supports WebM, H.263, H.264, MPEG-4 SP, AMR, AMR-WB, AAC, HE-AAC, MP3, MIDI, FLAC, JPEG, PNG, GIF etc.
5.Multi touch
6.Video calling
7.Streaming media support
8.Additional hardware support
9.Web browser:Based on open-source WebKit layout engine coupled with Chrome's VB Java Script Engine.

Android OS is Linux based OS that is the most recent OS for smartphones.
It is very customizable, but if you root your phone, you'll be able to do what ever you want :-)
