    Default Help needed regarding the search option in Mobilephonetalk.

    Hey Guys.

    I am in a mess here and need some help..The thing is...whenever i m posting a thread i do a search to find out if the same topic is posted already. Couple of times i did the search and didnt find any similar topics posted earlier...But after posting my thread some posters provided me with the link saying its been posted already! I have no intentions to spam here and seriously want to know if there is some specific way to use the search tool.

    I just go to the advance search and type the keywords....but still it does not shows anything....I post the thread and get warnings like its been posted earlier.!!

    Help me out pls.

    Thanx in advance

    I have moved your topic to the correct board, Buk

    I also have the same problem here.

    It takes a few minutes for the new thread/s to generate before appearing on new Search feature.

    You could always 'Quick Links > Todays Post' before making a thread.

    Or Try doing a google search without the version number, by writting

    World of Goo site:mobilephonetalk.com

    I hope this is of help to you, Buk

    Thanks a lot for that reply Blu........I noticed somehow the search tool is connected to the google search.....so every time i do an advance search but still no joy. I noticed the difference in the results from both the search types....Advanced and the Normal. I am just afraid they do not start thinking like i am trying to spam or what. I been banned for 2 days already cuz of this search thing bud!

    The Quick Links> Today's Post is indeed a good way to find out the previous post...But it wont show the posts done a way long back. Isn't there anything simple for a beginner like me?...why the search tools not giving the proper results?
    Anyways...I would try the methods u told me and I hope they works.

    Search forum system is very simple and very efficiently.

    1. Press "Advanced Search" link at top of screen.
    2. Select bookmark "Search Single Content Type".
    3. Enter the query text in the "Keyword(s):".
    4. Select "Search Titles Only" and press "Search Now" button.
    5. Enjoy.

    Very simple and effective.

    Thanx a Ton for the reply and for providing the proper method for "search". I did exactly what u mentioned above and Yes it worked to some extent. But still its not as effective as it should be. I am providing the screenshots!

    #1) Settings i did b4 searching for my file...as per u told.

    #2) Here are the results

    As u can see the file name i was looking for showed up in the 17th row! The top most results are the most non-relevant ones. For a beginner like me its a hell of confusion. But yeah....with this method its already 80% sorted out. The thing is sometimes the file ur looking for is showed in 3rd or 4th page and I dont think any one gonna dig it to that extent. I hope this can be fixed so that Noobs like me can survive on the forum by avoiding doing mistakes again and again.

    I am going to be more careful in my further posts and do things as per u advised.

    Thnx again.

    yes you right! but system has some restriction.

    - please don't use in query words less 4 symbols (ex: "of", "a", "in", "on", etc);
    - please don't use in query punctuation marks or numbers (ex: "!", ".", ";", etc);
    - please use only words more 3 symbols in query.

    and you get the best result

    however, the best research.. the most accurate, is done with a single word.... then check, between those found.. if there is a similar thread.

    Exactly!! That's the key for a good search and for getting the perfect results. The smaller the keyword is...the better are the search results..But can mess up if u have to look for something like "quick internet speed booster" .
