Intuition is helpful and some people will tend to rely on this gift but it is not vital to the astrologer, particularly whilst learning the skills.
Similarly, astronomy is a science close to common experience.
Every curious person who gazes at the night sky becomes an astronomer, and yet the things we see in outer space are wholly outside our earthbound experience.
For three hundred years astronomers thought the universe consisted of only stars in our Milky Way, along with a handful of faint, fuzzy, and mysterious objects they called "nebulae." Most astronomers believed these objects were interspersed among the stars.
Later, it was found that most of these objects were actually independent galaxies lying hundreds of millions of light-years from Earth.
Early telescopes were unable to resolve the individual stars in these distant galaxies, so they appeared only as small nebulous smudges on the sky.
Astronomy is a young science, after all.
Only in the last century or so have we truly come to understand the size and age of the universe we live in, neutron stars and other phenomena in astronomy.
And finally, only in the last few years have we been able to find planets in orbit around other stars and the real possibility of life beyond Earth.
