Default How To : Rip Android Apps. (Root Not Essential But Recomended)

How To : Rip Android Apps. (Root Not Essential But Recomended)

First thing's first. You need ASTRO.

    Download it from here:
    http://www.symbiantalk.net/showthrea...ighlight=ASTRO

Next, you need to get Root Explorer for (private) apps. (REQUIRES ROOT!):
    http://www.symbiantalk.net/showthrea...=Root+Explorer
If you don't have a rooted phone, it's fine. But you won't be able to backup (private) apps.

Once you have both of those setup and ready to go.
Find an app you'd like to get for free.
I'm going to find something random on the market and copy it.

    ASTRO method:

Step 1: Find an app, and buy it.

Step 2: Once it's installed, launch ASTRO.
Step 3: Press the Settings button on your phone, and select Tools.
    Step 4: Select Application Manager/Backup.

Step 5: Press the check-mark next to the application and click Backup.

Your app is now backed up. You can uninstall and refund if you choose to. The APK is located in sdcard\backups\apps.

Root Explorer Method for (private) apps:

Try doing the ASTRO method for all apps. It's just easier. If you find (private) next to your app, this is what you have to do.

Step 1: Find an app, and buy it.
Step 2: Once installed, launch Root Explorer and navigate to data\apps-private.
Step 3: Copy the APK you want to your SD card.

That's it. You're done. Uninstall and refund if you wish. I usually copy my APKs to sdcard\backups\apps\ so that I can reinstall it with ASTRO.

I don't think you can update the app once you get a refund for it and install the backup copy...

That's why if you want updates, you'll have to pay for it, or get someone who paid for it to rip it for you.

So if I wanted to share some of the apps I bought that are not up here in this forum yet, I simply could do it the way described in the OP and post the apk in here (this forum) ?

    Pretty much, yes.

Unless there is some sort of license check, then you are pretty much screwed.
