dear sgs users,
This is my own found method, only for sgs users. But it may work on other android devices, i don't know it exacly
if you want to root your galaxy s with 2.2.1, then this is the thread you're looking for
here is a site that contains all the firmwares of sgs, so if you f*ucked up your phone, this could be the solution for you: www.samfirmware.com
what you will need is this:
- Samsung Galaxy S
- Odin ver 1.3.0 (will add download link, scroll down)
- Usb cable, to connect your sgs
- Cynogen Mod Kernel or ClockWorkMod Kernel
- Wifi (for making the update.zip file)
1. Open Odin - version 1.3.0 or 1.3.2 (doesn't matter) http://www.multiupload.com/4JLU4QHUV7
2. Now, you need the Cynogen Mod Kernel or ClockWorkMod Kernel.
First, please download the Kernel and save it to your Desktop http://www.mediafire.com/?f4xuns3ne3k5d28
Open Odin and only click on PDA and click on the Kernel file (.tar).
Don't click on Re-Partition, it will delete your factory data!!! it happended to me..
Just only add the kernel.
Go with your phone in Download Mode (Volume Down - Home Key (Big Button Key) - Power Key
Connect your phone with the pc
Odin wil say: Added!
Click on Start and let the progress run..
When it's done, the phone will boot up normally
If you want to be sure that you have te kernel, go into recovery mode (Volume Up - Home Key - Power Key)
you will see the ClockWorkMod kernel 2.1.5 Lagfix edition. Just Click on Reboot.
3. Now you have the ClockWorkMod Kernel
4. If you are still going into the original recovery, then just tap twice on apply update.zip, you will go automatic in ClockWorkMod Recovery. Install OCLF (Down Below) , and then click on Root Device Recovery 2e.
why? i have 3e recovery?
the Cynogen Mod/ ClockWorkMod Kernel makes it availible to install any unsigned update.zips
now power off your sgs and go into recovery mode
(Volume Up - home screen the big button key - power key)
click on apply update.zip and after that, your device will reboot
5. Click on applications and if you see Superuser, You´ve done it.
Cheers
