I completely agree that I wouldn't want to be forced to view a mobile interface and be absent the option of a the regular desktop view. That said, Android phone browsers afford the option to set the interface one desires to use. If "desktop" is chosen, the browser will present itself to websites as a desktop instead of a smartphone, so even if the mobile version was forced for smartphone browsers, this could easily be sidestepped by changing this setting (I'm not sure if Symbian or iOS has this ability). Based on the language you used, it sounds like I must manually enable the mobile forum view before it will display when I visit the forums from my smartphone: I'll see if I can find that setting.
Although it is good that this site offers a mobile interface, albeit somewhat less than easy to access, I still must urge you to implement Tapatalk or Forum Runner, if not both. These apps make navigating an interacting with a forum much easier than even a mobile browser interface could. I say that not based on some theory I've devised, but a truth accepted by forum owners everywhere: if it were not true, these apps would not have the mass adoption and acclaim that they do. If that doesn't convince you of the necessity of these apps, I would think the following two facts would: 1) your competitors offer it 2) your users want it (there's more than one of these types of threads on this forum). I hope this will help you see your way clear to enabling Tapatalk, Forum Runner or both.
I appreciate your prompt response to my previous post and apologize for my somewhat delayed response. I have now subscribed to this thread so that I am alerted of replies.
